The artist's dilemma, eh? To worship the Artist or the art? To be enraptured by the gift or the Giver; to adore 2nd things or 1st things. To adore 2nd things is to not only to miss the 1st thing we ultimately miss the 2nd as well. Art makes a good gift, but a bad god.
